Hive Five Bee Seasoned Kitchen Wax
Bee Seasoned Kitchen Wax
Some of my favorite cast iron pans are older than I am. By a lot.
One of my prized skillets was found hidden inside the wall of a Victorian home here in Ridgely that was built in 1896. It was covered in rust and years of neglect. We had to sandblast it clean, season it from scratch, and slowly bring it back to life. Today, it's back where it belongs, cooking dinner for my family.
That's exactly why I made Bee Seasoned Kitchen Wax.
Made with beeswax from our family hives, food grade mineral oil, and carnauba wax, it's designed to help protect and condition the hardworking tools in your kitchen. From cast iron skillets and Dutch ovens to cutting boards, butcher blocks, wooden utensils, and rolling pins, Bee Seasoned helps keep surfaces conditioned, protected, and ready for years of use.
This isn't a cooking oil, and it isn't meant to replace seasoning your cast iron. Think of it as a protective conditioner. I like to apply a light coat after cleaning and drying my cast iron, then wipe it clean before cooking. When it's time to cook, I still use my favorite cooking oil, usually avocado oil, just like I always have.
Because some things deserve another hundred years.
Ingredients: Beeswax, Food Grade Mineral Oil, Carnauba Wax
Directions: Apply a thin coat to a clean, completely dry surface using a soft cloth or applicator pad. Allow the wax to absorb for several minutes, then buff away any excess. Before cooking, wipe the cooking surface clean and apply your preferred cooking oil as you normally would.
